We have been decorating cakes for a while now. We're still new at it but love the practice! We'll post cakes as we finish them, so check back often!

Frosty Cake and Snowflake cookies
This is what was left of Frosty before we thought to take a picture. He's long gone now. Our Snowflake cookies are also gone. Merry Christmas and blessings to all from "The Dessert Box".

Chocolate Lover's Groom's Cake
This cake is definitely the one for all chocolate lovers. This 3-tiered groom's cake was all chocolate. Each tier had four layers of chocolate cake and our yummy, rich chocolate buttercream icing. We topped the cake with bride and groom strawberries and a chocolate monogrammed letter, and dressed the sides with dozens more chocolate-dipped strawberries. This cake feeds about 120 people. We hope you enjoy this cake and we wish the happy couple the best.

Rising Star Jacie
Jacie, like most 6 year-old girls, loves Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus. She couldn't decide which celeb would be the "ONE" to focus her birthday cake on. So we decided that no girl should have to make that huge decision and made her cake about Jacie and all her favorite girls. In our book, Jacie is a "rising star" and on this cake she takes center stage. The two-layered top tier is topped with a picture of the birthday girl, and following the rising star theme, we shaped the bottom, single-layered tier as such. A picture of Carrie, Taylor, and Miley grace the sides with their appearance. The entire cake was all vanilla: vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream. We hope your birthday was as spectacular as you are, rising star Jacie!!

Monster Madness
What better way to celebrate a birthday in October than with a monster party. Savannah sure knows how to choose cute cuddly monsters. And even monsters love candy! This cake is our typical vanilla w/buttercream icing-a little bit of fondant detail went into the facial features. Serves about 40 people. Happy Birthday Savannah and we hope you have a lot of little monsters at your party.

It Runs In The Family
This cake was done by Heather back in March. Yes. Heather. She can do it, too. Ian wanted his Aunt Taco to make his cake and nobody else could help. He also wanted a racetrack with toy dirt bikes and the men. It fed 54 people and was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Heather did a great job. Thanks, Aunt Heather.
Peach Elegance
Okay, so this is an older cake we did for a bridal shower. The bride was using this peachy/copper color in her wedding and again on her invitations, so what better color to use on the cake? The delicate piping detail and bottom border, as well as the icing was done with our homeade vanilla buttercream. The monogram on the top of the cake was hand-piped with white chocolate.

Pink Tractor
This is a vanilla cake w/buttercream icing for 40 people. The McCrory family sure does love tractors. Pawpaw loves tractors so his granddaughter, Adrianna loves them too! So much that she wanted a pink tractor on her b'day cake. I put a little extra icing on there for Nana. Happy birthday Adrianna! Thanks Amanda!

Pumpkin Cookies
We finally got to make some cookies! This was a new experience for us, but it turned out really good. We made about two dozen of these cute pumpkin cookies. They're a little bit smaller than a softball. They're iced in orange and green royal icing (homemade, of course) and have green and orange sugar crystals. They're SO GOOD! (of course we had to sample them!) We hope they're a hit at Anna Raley's fall-themed birthday party.

Kendall's Ladybug B'day
This was for my granddaughter Kendall's first birthday. They were all vanilla cakes with buttercream icing and served about70-75 people. The ladybugs on the flower cake were made of homemade fondant and the "ladybug" cake was for Kendall to tear into. The polka-dots were cookie icing and the antennaes were made of pastillage and painted with food coloring. The extra flower cake was just that-extra, just in case. We didn't want to run out. Everybody wants a piece of b'day cake. It was a wonderful party. Shawn and Misty really went all out with the food and goodie bags to take home. Happy Birthday to our precious little Kendall-we love you!

Diaper Bag for Zach and Becca
Zach and Becca, my son and daughter-in-law, chose not to find out the gender of our little one on the way in November. So, any color of the spectrum was up for grabs. Becca's favorite color is green so we decided to go with this color and write the names they have picked out-Zoe for a girl and Benjamin for a boy. Can't wait to see. Unlike them, I would want to know, but they are big fans of being surprised. I salute them for their patience for this is one thing they will need in the future. This cake is a four layer vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. The straps and pacifier are made of homemade fondant. It serves about 54 people. Congratulations!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!! (#2)
This is our second Alabama "A" cake. However, you can clearly notice the difference between this cake and our first attempt. We're very pleased with the outcome. We used a different technique on the houndstooth, which shaved a bit of time off the decorating. Like our first Alabama cake, we used homemade fondant, crimson and white vanilla buttercream, and vanilla cake which ultimately served 25 people. We hope this cake is a "touchdown" for Hunter's birthday!

Alabama "A" logo (houndstooth)
Roll Tide Roll!!! This was fun but very time consuming. The "A" is houndstooth made with homemade fondant and placed on the cake piece by piece like a puzzle with small tweezers-whew! "Happy Birthday" was written in crimson under the "A" but we didn't get a picture of it. The cake looks good and we were happy with the results. This cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream and served 25 people. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!

Princess Castle
This was for a little girl's special one year birthday. It's a vanilla three-tiered cake with buttercream icing and it served approximately 60 people. The towers and the flags were made of pastillage The roofs of the towers were sugar cones coated with buttercream. The smaller cake was for little Maggie to tear into. Best wishes on this special "Princess" day.

Topsy-turvy - Sarah & Sydney
Topsy-turvy is a good name for this cake. It's one of our more labor intensive cakes that we've done in the birthday cake category. This is a neopolitan flavored cake. Strawberry cake with buttercream on the bottom - vanilla cake/buttercream in the middle - chocolate cake/chocolate buttercream on top - fondant bow with a white chocolate "S" also on top. Sarah and Sydney, we hope you loved your cake. Happy Birthday!

Over The Hill
This was for a surprise 40th birthday party. With the usual vanilla cake with buttercream icing, this cake served 54 people, and the train, signs and clouds were made of homemade fondant. Bonnie told us to use our imagination and it was a lot of fun, thanks. We hope Scott was surprised and pleased. Happy Birthday Scott! Just click on the picture to get a close-up.

Sleepover Cake
We had so much fun doing this cake for Kim and Tyner Beth. This cute little sleeping bag is for Tyner Beth's sleepover (girls only! - back off boys!). Strawberry is the flavor of choice for this cake. We used our classic buttercream icing and popular homemade "yum-o" fondant. We love the fact that Tyner Beth wanted "hot" colors. (cute, cute). This cake serves about 20-25. Have fun girls! Enjoy!

Monitor, Tractor, Turtle and Dukes of Hazard cakes
The tractor cake was for cousin Eddie from his grandkids . The monitor cake was for the nurses at the NICU in Northport. Thanks for taking care of our grand-daughter Kendall. The turtle cake was for a little girl my daughter kept.
This "Dukes of Hazard" cake served 54 and as you can tell, Houston is a big fan of the General Lee.
