Bassinet Cake

This cake was a vanilla cake tinted baby blue with buttercream icing. One time-consuming task was the basket weave. A steady hand is the secret and patience, a must. The umbrella was made of white chocolate and then covered with vanilla fondant. The baby, blanket, and pillow was made from fondant. We made a base on legs with wheels out of wood and covered it with a miniature bassinet skirt made from scrap material we had on hand. A cake like this is challenging but so much fun.
